Thursday Thirteen #51

<
Thirteen Pictures of the Gardens at the Biltmore Estate

1)These first three were taken in one of the wings of the greenhouse-

2)

3)

4)This picture was taken inside the main part of the greenhouse to show the height of the building

5)This is the herb garden- just outside the greenhouse

6)This is the rose garden, taken from just in front of the greenhouse

7)There is a cottage just outside the walled garden, that I have always been fascinated by, and the trees that frame it made a great picture.

8)There is a path that you can drive along that goes through the walled garden, and this picture is taken from that path. In early spring this bed is filled with hundreds of tulips (it's somewhere around 6 or 7 hundred). They usually bloom the second week in April, but with mild winters it probably comes earlier.

9)I could probably do a Thursday Thirteen with just the pictures I took of pansies.

10)

11)

12)This and the next picture are Asters- I'm currently using this picture as my desktop.

13)

Bonus)This picture is of one rose bush. Amazing, isn't it?

I would totally love it there. I'll have to add it to my list of places to get to during my lifetime.

That looks like a great place to visit--thanks for posting such cheerful photographs! It's cool and cloudy here today, so I really appreciated them!

Hi everybody, thanks for dropping by. I'm glad you liked the pictures, I was rather pleased with how well they turned out myself.
Susan- Funny you should mention wanting to go there, did you know it's only a 7 1/2 hour drive from Pittsburgh? (Just sayin') :)

I always love intricate old estate gardens.

I try gardening, but basically I suck at it. I kill things. Not on purpose mind you. LOL!!

Lovely photos! Heh, though every time I hear "Biltmore," I think of Guys & Dolls and the crap game at the Biltmore Garage...

I adore the Biltmore, for more reasons than one. In fact, my sister was just there in the last week. Your pics are lovely.

(Not only is it a beautiful place, but the staff are very helpful. My Grandmother died a few years back while my parents were on vacation. Their cell phones were off, and they were headed for the Biltmore. So we called the Biltmore and the staff there put their names on the big chalkboard and made sure to find them for us.)

Ooo...all of it made me shivery. Especially the #11 roses. Thanks for this beautiful tour.

I love pansies! They just remind me of little faces peeking up to the sky.

And I admire your photography skills. If it were me behind the camera, the shots would have been blurry or... just the stems ;)
