I'm Back and Catless (Temporarily)

I'm back from vacation. Went home to see my mum (and my brother and sister and brother-in-law). Didn't get much walking done (I did do six loads of laundry and bought three pairs of shoes-yeah team- shoe shopping is about as fun for me as root canal only usually not as productive), and got absolutely no writing done (on account of how I'd carefully stacked all of my writing supplies on the coffee table the night before I left and then left without them-oops), and read three very enjoyable books (including the advanced reader's copy of The Perfect Stranger that I won in a drawing on the author's blog- thanks again Alison), and managed to work out how to get past the latest roadblock in the LOTR the Third Age (a playstation game a friend and I are slowly working our way through). I'm going to go and enjoy my nice quiet apartment now. Have a good afternoon everyone.

Kitty Coronary

So it's my day off, and I'm running late to meet my walking partner to go mallwalking, I'm just about to get dressed when there is a pounding at my door. I immediately throw on the closest pair of pants I can find and rush to the door, and it's maintenance. They've come to get the window that they replaced and left the original on my back deck (I've had a window leaning on my deck- first the new and then the old one) since early September (even before I went to Ireland). So I said fine, there it is. The took the window and left, and I wanted to check and make sure the cat didn't walk out with them (I didn't see her- but she can be very sneaky when she wants to- and although she usually just pokes her little nose out the door and then comes back in- there's always a first time). So I look around the apartment. And don't find her! I look under the furniture in the living room, I look in all of the closets, I start looking under the furniture in the bedroom (calling all the time mind you, and even whistling now and again). And I don't find her. I'm rushing to put on socks and sneakers to look outside for her... And I find her sitting calmly and peacefully on the floor in the corner next to the love seat in my bedroom. She looks up at me with this totally indifferent expression as if to say, you called? So that was my morning. How was yours?
Ann
P.S. The cat is fine. I didn't strangle her, despite how tempted I might have been.
P.P.S. We even managed three laps this morning, and I'm walking again this evening. Which will make up for going out to dinner, something I'm going to suggest to my evening walking partner.
P.P.S. I need suggestions!!! I've signed up for my day jobs Relay for Life team again this year, and need suggestions for ways to raise money. I thought about asking some of the writers in the blogging community to donate books that we could raffle off at the Relay (some of the teams bring some really cool things to raffle off- and this would fit with our team and our motto) but I'm a little leary of just writing and asking. So what do you think? Is this a good idea? Any other suggestions? I have to confess, if it's something crafty, I can't do it. I'm too much a perfectionist and not skilled enough to do most craft things, with the sole exception of cross stitch (which takes more time than I currently have).

That's all for now, have a happy weekend. Stay warm.

Happy Valentine's Day

See, it does pay to exercise. I went walking after work despite the rain and the wind and the cold. Okay, so we only did two laps around the pond, but that equalled around 3,000 steps. I was driving home (and stopped at the BBQ place to pick up dinner) and thinking about ways to add tension to my ebook turning into a novel, when I came up with a (I think) great idea. And I think I can use that idea to come up with more ways to up the tension without making it seem arbitrary? gratuitous? (I'm having a brain fart-it's been a very long week and its only Wednesday- so work with me here). Anyway, I think this could be what lets me turn my novel into a kick ass novel. Yeah!!!

I hope everybody has a Happy Valentine's Day (all four of you) and that you get over the Strep throat soon (and PLEASE don't give it to me). And maybe when I get back from vacation we'll have a snow day (hey it could happen- I can dream- fish do fly sometimes).

It's Tuesday already?

I can't think of any trivia to post today, and I was too busy at the day job to look anything up. So instead I thought I'd go with my next favorite thing: Lists. And not just any lists, lists of books I am waiting for and when they will be released (yeah).

Warprize- Elizabeth Vaughan (3/6)
Lover Revealed- J.R. Ward (3/6)
For a Few Demons More- Kim Harrison (3/20)
Green Mill Murder- Kerry Greenwood (4/28)
Kitty Takes a Holiday- Carrie Vaughn (4/28)
Damsel Under Stress- Shanna Swendwon (5/1)

All Together Dead (5/1)
Witch Hunt- Shirley Damsgaard (5/29)
Harlequin- Laurell K. Hamilton (6/5)

What books are you waiting for? Read any good ones lately? Have a good night, Ann

TGIF!!!!!

Today's my day off for the week. Yeah. Actually its not as bad as that sounds. I went walking this morning and will go walking again this evening, and I'm going to make some chili and take it with me when I go walking (for afterwards). After I did my laps at the mall I even did some shopping (I have a very low dropping threshold unless books are involved). Now all I need to find are some new shoes to buy (I don't think they'd let me wear my hiking boots on the day job- and my others all should have been retired a while ago). Have a happy weekend everyone.

P.S. The writing is going well, filling in the holes that were created by changing the time that passes during the main storyline. Also think I've figured out who the big bad is, and it wasn't who I thought it would be. Hmm.

Me as M, in the Mountains

I couldn't resist making a picture of me as an M in the mountains. And trying to post this to my blog was very educational, I'm learning more about blogs every day. And I love the props they have on the Create your own M site.
It took me a while to make the picture and then download it and then upload it to my blog, so I had lots of time to think. I what I thought was, it was probably a good thing that Patrick was in Ireland when he came up with his whole shamrock as visual explanation for the Trinity instead of say North Carolina. Shamrocks work much better for what he wanted than say, oh...Poison Ivy, Poison Oak, or even Poison Sumack? Just a thought.

New Stuff

I blame PBW, of course. The only reason I started this blog in the first place was I couldn't figure out how to post comments on her blog without one (I know there is a way- it just never worked for me), so once I had a blog, I had to post things on it at least semi-regularly. And of course since I visited her blog more than I did my own, I eventually looked at her list of links, and then followed them. And then one day I asked her a question and she tagged me with a meme, so I did that (and I must admit, it was kind of fun). And then I followed her links and read a question on someone else's blog that I could answer, so I did (Yup, I did). I think I could get used to this. So thanks, PBW.
Ann
P.S. Just don't make me go to MySpace. I know everyone else in the world thinks its the best thing since peanut butter, but we have issues with it at the day job that most likely no one else has faced. And it makes me want to say (often and emphatically), We hates it precious! :o)
