Thirteen Movies I Want to See
Okay, some of these are movies I want to see in the theater, some are coming out on DVD, and some are just a glimmer in my imagination, but hey I can hope. Right? So, here they are.
 1) Beowulf- yes, I want to see this. Yes, I've read this and studied this. No,
not in the original Old English, but still. And no, I haven't read the new
verse translation. Yet.

2) Enchanted-It sounds interesting and it's about fairy tales.

3) The Golden Compass- I'll make up my own mind thank you.
I have decided to see the movie first and then read the book,
though.

4) National Treasure- I'll probably end up seeing
this over Christmas.

5) Prince Caspian- The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is the only one I've ever read (it was the only one we still had when I got old enough to read it).

6) Atonement- based on Ian McEwan's book
(which I read and enjoyed).

7) No Country for Old Men- I haven't read the book, but have been told that I must see this movie, so maybe.
 8) The Water Horse- I saw the previews and want to see it.

9) Stardust- this is coming out in DVD soon, and I'll probably get it (after Christmas)- great movie.

10) H.P. and the Order of the Phoenix- out on DVD soon (this one I'll probably get and take with me).

11) H.P. and the Half-Blood Prince- I know, I used the book cover- Internet Movie Database didn't have the movie poster, but they did say that it is coming out next year (yay!).

12) H.P. and the Deathly Hallows- I know, IMDB didn't even list a date (although I've seen 2010 as a date for it somewhere- I just don't remember where).

13) The Hobbit- This is the one I'm hoping for. New Line needs to get its act together and have Peter Jackson make the Hobbit- I have just three words to say in explanation- bad 70s animation (enough said).

We haven't been to the movies in ages. We took the monsters to see Ratatouille, and I think the last grown-up trip was Spider Man 3. Yeah. Maybe we can hit the movies in a few weeks for our wedding anniversary.
I really want to see the first four; haven't heard of the next 4 (the movies, that is--I've heard of a couple of the books); Stardust and Order of the Phoenix were great; and I'm looking forward to the last two, too. :)
Hi Joely- I haven't been to the movies in a long time either. I can't remember if Ratatouille or Stardust was the last movie I saw in the theater. I do remember they had some really cool trailers, unfortunately I can't remember them.
Hi Darla- I'll probably end up waiting until some of these come out on cable to see them, but I wouldn't hold my breath on the last one.
I really want to see #2 (the preview is great) and #4 & 5. And I want to own #9. I loved that one when I saw it in the theater!
My one concern about having Jackson direct #13 (which I also want to see made into a movie) is that I worry he would turn the Battle of 5 Armies into something huge, even though Bilbo gets knocked unconscious before much happens, and so the battle gets next to no page time.
I'm actually going to try and fit in Golden Compass, Atonement, and No Country when I go home to my parents' house for Christmas. They can watch the kids!
I didn't even really remember it was thursday. Stupid work!
I saw an advanced screening of The Water Horse and it was GREAT!
Movies? What are those?
No, seriously... Looks like a great list. I, too, am looking forward to the rest of the Harry Potter movies. 2010, though, huh? Ouch. It seems farther away than it probably is.
I've been trying to see Beowulf for weeks! Can't seem to find the time. I'll prolly have to wait until it goes to DVD.
My Thursday Thirteen #3
Peter Jackson isn't making The Hobbit??! :-O
Enchanted rocks!! It was a great movie, yep all those movies hit my list (except Beowulf, I was so disenchanted with the Gerard Butler one). I know this is different but I really don't want to see it.
Hi Nicole- I'm not so worried aboout that after he did The Lord of the Rings. The Battle of Five Armies is big, granted but no where near as big as Pelannor Fields. I think he's stay true to the spirit of the book.
Hi Carrie-good luck, and I'd be interested in hearing what you think about Atonement. It might be a while before I see that.
Hi Lila- the only reason I know what day it is is the dayjob. :)
I really want to see Water Horse.
Hi Susan- Movies- those commercial free things they show on TV? And sometimes you go out to see?
H.P. #7 (I rechecked and IMDB does say 2010 for this) IMDB says its in production but doesn't list the complete cast so I don't know. 2010'll get here quickly though.
HI Tanya- I know what you mean: time, money, attention span- take your pick. :)
Hi Raine- Honestly, I don't know. Even IMDB doesn't seem to know. But we can hope, right?
Hi Amy- I'll let you know what I think after I've seen Beowulf (which might not be until its out on cable).
every one of these sounds good to me too. i've not been to the theater in years. i missed the DVDs as much as the books when the libraries closed last spring. the only thing stopping me from sending for DVDs as soon as the libraries reopened in October was the upcoming NaNo. I was about to put in my order for a few when the possibility of this trip to my Mom's came up. Now I will have to wait until after Christmas.
my sister took me to the library here Wednesday and checked stuff out for me on her card, including Bee Season on DVD which is an awesome story.
i've actually got National Treasure with me. a loan from my niece in Oregon which I brought to offer to watch with my sister's boy but he's already seen it.
I cannot wait for National Treasure 2! I really like the first... And I cannot wait for Resident Evil:Extinction to come out in video!! It would prebably be very soon!!
