Monday's Poetry Train

Today was an offline kind of day, I didn't really get much done, and didn't really feel like doing much. I couldn't even think of what I wanted to post for the poetry train, and then I went out to dinner with a friend and she suggested I write Haikus about Labor Day (except I didn't do much), and I had the idea to write Haikus about going to a author's book signing and getting to meet Larissa (one half of Sydney Croft whose new book, Riding the Storm, was just released this past week). So here are my haiku (such as they are). :)

I'm going to gloat
to brag, to boast, to show-off
I met Larissa.

She signed the copy
of her new book that I won
on Alison's blog.

Michelle signed one too.
I got to hang out with them
she took our picture.

After the signing,
we went, had coffee, and talked
and talked, and talked more.

I like the set of four haiku. Those describe what all you did. Cool!

Hi Gautami, glad you liked it. I had fun writing it.

Larissa! I was just coming over to tell you about my haiku. Next time I work the weekend, I'll come up to W'burg and we can go to the used book store and then hang at the coffee shop.

Hi Rhi- I have to finish the roll, first. I'll try to turn it in tomorrow.

I really enjoyed the set of related haiku, as well. Hmm...that's giving me ideas...

Sounds like it was a fun day.

Hey Julia, yes it turned out to be a great day (getting there was another story entirely *g*).

I tried to writye Haiku about Haiku, but I can't count.

Yeah! Pictures!!

Your enthusiasm reminds me of how I felt the night I hung with JA Konrath. It's so energizing to hang with a writer and talk shop...

And the four haiku to tell the story is brilliant, Ann! I'm sorry I didn't get by yesterday, but now I'm glad I didn't -- I was too tired to think straight.

Hi Susan, Actually if you want pictures, Larissa has posted hers (It might take me a couple more days to finish the roll). Glad you stopped by.

Thanks Amy.

Hi Joely- I told Larissa you'd say that *g*.

Hi Nancy- it was really nice to meet someone outside of the dayjob (which is where I met almost all of my friends in this area), and to talk writing with someone? Very nice.

what a cool experience. i love the multiple haiku concept. reminds me of Ellen Hopkins novels done entirely in a series of short poems.
