Thirteen Observations I've Made This Week

Not much writing done so far this week. I've been in a blah mood (that had nothing with Finishing the Last Harry Potter- or even the Great Software Crash), just blah. I do plan on catching up this weekend, regardless of blahs. Got to get caught up so Sven won't pay me a visit, but I have to ask, is anyone else feeling the burn? (or in my case I'm getting muscle twitches in my hands, most annoying).

1)The main software system I use at the dayjob crashed for two days (Monday and Tuesday), sometimes technology really doesn’t like me.
2)Databases are great, databases that work are even better, leaving the people with the largest need and the least amount of experience with a crashed database during their busiest time of year might be considered hazardous to your health.
3)I’ve had such a varied experience trying to post comments on blogs, I’ve considered just automatically highlighting my comment and hitting copy before I send it, just in case.
4)I don’t think what I’ve currently got is writer’s block, more like writer’s cramp (or just a twitch- in my hand’s at least, the cramps are in my arms).
5)I finished Harry! *g* and won’t say a thing about it.
6)I should have remembered that part of the reason I was going south today was to get more psychokitty food, now I have to make another trip (the other reason was to go walking).
7)I’d swear that absent-mindedness and brain scattering seems to be contagious (at least it’s not just me *g*).
8)There is no such thing as too many books (as I’ve spent the last week getting rid of outdated law books and medical references).
9)What’s wrong with going on vacation and going to a book sale?
10) I’m going on vacation starting next week, you know darn tooting all of my tomatoes will turn ripe… the day after I leave.
11)I’m getting a hair cut (the one above my left ear) and if I like the way it looks, I’ll think about doing the others *g*.
12) We’re going camping. I’ve been promised. There will be temper tantrums if we don’t. I'm just sayin'.
13) I haven’t started packing, yet, but I have a feeling it will mostly be done by Monday (I leave Thursday). Next week I tell you what books I’m taking (that should fill a TT).

It's your vacation, if you want to go book shopping, go for it! Save the packing until right before, works for me!

That truly bites about your work software! Hope the rest of the week is better for you.

Have a wonderful vacation! And I'm *giggling* at Writer's Twitch! I'm really having to be careful with all the writing and blogging activity because I'm prone to RSI and the last thing I need is a flare-up.

So sorry to hear about your work software! And good luck with your writing.

Happy TT and thanks for visiting mine. :)

Ha! #ll took me a minute -- I think my brain is slowing down. Thanks for coming by my blog.

Thanks everybody. Yup, I will have fun on my vacation, and the software is up and seems to be staying that way (fingers crossed).

I went through a blah phase a couple of weeks ago and I chuckled out loud with your writers cramp analogy. Have a great vacation.

Thank God I'm not the only one that goes blah every now and then. I haven't gotten the twitchy thing yet, but now that you've mentioned it ...

And who the he-- ever said there was something wrong with book shopping? I'd run him over with my car if he got in my way. ;)

Nice list. Have fun camping!

Thanks, everybody. I'm sure I will, even if I don't make it to the book sale (and I must say the person who was teasing me about it was also the person who told me about it- I'm just sayin').

Of course you should go to a book sale on your vacation. Any time is a good time to go to a book sale. *g*

Enjoy your camping trip!

Ann said...

Thanks, N.J., I intend to (and hopefully they'll have scoped out a great camping site before I get there *g*).

for number 5 - I'd be afraid to talk about Harry too soon. *g* I'd be afraid the mob would kill me.

I'm safe though. I haven't read any of the Harry books.

Camping sounds like a lot of fun.

Erin- I'm not saying anything until Friday, I'm having some friends over for dinner and a nice long book talk about all 7 of the HP books (which are totally awesome and think if you read the first you'd get hooked- I'm just sayin). Happy TT.

Hi Ann- I'm looking forward to it.

#3 - I'm so glad its not just me. What is up with the blogs lately?

#4 - Writer's block, escaped muse...yup. Doesn't it make you insane!

#7 - I call it CRS - can't remember s#*t. *G*

Have fun on your vacation. Isn't packing supposed to be a last minute thing?

Amy Ruttan said...

We all get the blahs.

I totally finished HP doesn't it rawk!! OMG, I wish others would hurry up and read it so I can talk about it. Lurve it!

I will be posting a Friday snippet. Just for you Ann. :)

Absolutely nothing wrong with going on vacation and going to a book sale. Sounds like a damn good vacation to me!

I do your number three as a matter of course now.

I hope you get out of the blahs soon. I hate it when Blogger drops my comments. It makes me go grrrr

The vacation will cheer to right up. Loved the comment about the tomatoes. Isn't it the truth. They probably will ripen as soon as you drive out of the driveway. Have a great TT. :)

Looking forward to the TT about the books! Have a fun weekend.

Nicole said...

Have a good vacation! And who says that book sales don't equal vacation? I'm confused. :)

Hope you have a great vacation. Book shopping sounds good to me.
And I did #3 almost all the time for quite awhile, but luckily I haven't had as much trouble lately.

Thanks for visiting my list! :-)

Ann said...

Thanks everybody for stopping by and your kind remarks. Don't worry, there will be books in my travel plans, even if I don't hit the book sale. Have a good evening (must go back to work now-sigh).

3)I’ve had such a varied experience trying to post comments on blogs, I’ve considered just automatically highlighting my comment and hitting copy before I send it, just in case.

I started doing this after losing entire blog posts, and now I do it with my comments, too, whether the blog is WP or Blogger based. It's become second nature, and the habit is so worth developing.

If you do computer work at your day job, keep an eye on that hand. My aunt has bad carpal tunnel because of all the data input etc. she does.

As for writers block, blog about where you're stuck, I bet your Friday regulars would be happy to toss out some ideas to get you going.

That said it's really humid where I am and when the humidity is up, I find it hard to do anything.

Have a great vacation and any time is a good time to go book shopping.

Ann said...

Hi Shannon- I'm going to have to remind myself to do that, even on my own blog (sigh).

Hey Gabriella- I'm actually more worried about tendonitis than Carpal Tunnel at this point, I've had it in both wrists, but when it starts going numb I start doing more of my wrist exercises and it seems to help. The muscle twitches are new though (I get them in my feet sometimes).

I had the same thought about asking the Friday Snippet gang, maybe tomorrow *g*. Have to go post my weekly contribution.

book shopping would be my dream vacation.

the blahs have visited me as regularly as full moons. i ride them out with the mantra, this too will pass. interesting thing about them i've noticed is that i often make a creative breakthru just after they pass. it is like there is something in our psyche that is as cyclic as the need for sleep. the trick is in not believing the irrational thoughts that try to convince you that it is not temporary.

ummm. if you're around the next time I whine about a slump, feed me my words. ;)

i've done #3 habitually for awhile now. except in the last few weeks, i got lazy about it as well as about returning visits. blame Sven.

yes i'm feeling the burn. i get wrist and elbow pain with excessive typing and my little fingers loose strength. which makes hitting the shift key iffy which is why you see so few caps in my comments. if i push too hard, the weekness creeps to my ring fingers as well. i usually spend longer editing my blog posts then writing them because of this. so you can only imagine what my rough drafts look like. you will only ever be able to imagine what they might look like tho because i have to promise my muse no one will ever see them else she sulks or freezes me out.
