Thirteen Things I Like About (This) 4th of July

The paperclip icon in Word is scratching his head and staring at me, evidently waiting for me to start typing. I sitting here at my computer trying to come up with a Thursday 13, and drawing a blank. Not quite complete, but nothing worthy of a TT. Well, here it goes, wish me luck.

1) I have three days off (everybody sign with me—I have three days off, I have three days off…).
2) I get to be a slug (if I want to) and stay at home and watch movies and read good books and hang with Savannah Jane, my psycho kitty.
3) If I don’t want to be a slug, I can organize my living room, rearrange my dining room (okay, it’s my office- but it has a dining table in it), get my filing done, go blog hopping (and get awarded the Rockin’ Girl Blogger Award *g*), and write, write, write (and do sudoku).
4) I can take care of a doctor’s appointment without using sick leave (I have 6 weeks accumulated, so that’s not that big a worry).
5) Five Guys Burgers and Fries- I don’t have to cook (great burgers, but can we say FRIES- quite yummy and totally addictive).
6) When my peeps all get back from vacation, I can go out to dinner, go to a movie, or just hang.
7)And maybe one of them will go with me on my quest for an inexpensive wooden DVD storage rack (I’ve found them before, but now that I need one I can’t find them anywhere - *grrr*).
8) I can stay up late and sleep in- or I can go to bed as usual and get up at the normal time and get more done (Nah).
9) Leftover Spaghetti- with my own made from scratch spaghetti sauce (what? You wanted a normal list?)
10) And maybe while I’m searching for my DVD case, I can also look for a new desk chair (the dining room chairs aren’t working out so well, and the comfy chair is too comfy- and hard to get out of).
11) Naps! I can take a nap- any flippin’ time I feel like it! Like now! (Okay, not now it’s 9:02, not a time to nap- not even a time to go to bed early, if I do that I’ll wake up at midnight with my body convinced it had just taken a nap).
12) I can finish the roll of pictures I’d taken of my psychokitty and the neighborhood hooligans (the ducks and geese) and get the roll developed (I have 2 left).
And
13) Write, write, write. I’ve been attacked by the plot bunnies. I had an idea for a whole other book, tried to write it as a flash fiction (but neglected to read the directions on the particular website where it said no more than 100 words- mine ended up being 500- sigh). And of course, there is a Friday Snippet to post (Owen makes his first appearance- teehee).

Ah, the staying up late and sleeping in, love it and got to do it today. Good luck on the writing in between the shopping and sleeping.

3 days of nothing... *Sighs* I am absolutely sure I would have no idea what to do with myself!

The napping sounds great. Sigh. My 3 year old regressed into babydom and kept us awake from 11-2 last night. Yawn. 5th of July nap in order for sure!

Not 3 days of nothing *g*, but three days of not going in to dayjob. And I was definitely in need of this (I somehow accumulated 20 hours of comp time- in 2 months). Ouch.

Plot bunnies. Have you copyrighted that or can I borrow it? I'll credit it to you, of course...

I love random TTs like this. They really get inside the author's brain, and that's always neat.

Enjoy the days off. I'm going to put you on my reader now so I can catch this Friday Snippet thing... See ya for the Poetry Train on Monday?

I can't take the credit for plot bunnies. I stole it from Celedë Anthaas, who used it in her comment on Gabriele's blog.
I think you'll like the Friday Snippets, the group is a very talented bunch and I'm just glad, grateful when they like what i've posted. See ya Monday, Happy TT.

I want to be a slug. I can't remember the last time I just slugged out. You've given me a dream. And a goal!

Relax on your time off. I didn't and man do I regret working my bum off on my long weekend!

Happy TT and thanks for dropping by mine.

I hope you had a great three days off! I think we should institute naps as part of the working day. Just like we did in preschool...I'd be so much more productive

Elle Fredrix said...

please, please, please send those plot bunnies my way!

My dining room is also my office -- but I didn't put a dining room table in here. :)

Looking forward to meeting Owen.

Plot bunnies--I like that going to have to borrow that the next time I'm stuck staring at the screen. LOL! Btw, I will be back. I do so want to meet Owen.

Enjoy your vacation!!

I tried to post replies to everyone and had just finished writing it out when my internet connection died- so I will try again.

Lisa- actually I haven't been a slug, just very relaxed and working at a leisurely pace.

Amy- no working the butt off, just trying to get things organized *g*.

Christine- Daily naps? Where do I sign up?

Elle- as soon as I find the plot bunnies I'll send them your way.

Jean- I may have a dining table in my study, but it doesn't get much use as such.

Gabriella- I can't take credit for the plot bunnies- I read it in a comment on Gabriele's blog.

Sorry Rhian, but if it makes you feel better I'll be working the weekend (which makes next week 7 days long-sigh). Have a good weekend.
