New Year's Resolutions

I was catching up on my blog reading and had just posted my goals for the new year on Paperback Writer's site and thought, duh, if one of my goals is to blog more regularly I should post my goals for the coming year here. So here they are.
My Goals for 2007:
1. Find a publisher for my first book (after giving the publisher that currently has it at the bottom of their slush pile the chance to say yea or nay).
2. Turn the novella I wrote for your ebook challenge into a novel and try to find a publisher for it (which may or may not end up being the publisher I sent my first book).
3. Finish the sequel to #1.
4. Start on the sequel to #2.
5. Blog more.
6. Exercise regularly and eat more healthy foods and less junk.
7. Get more organized.and lastly
8. Travel more (I have a passport and I'm not afraid to use it!)
Hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year's Eve and a very happy and creative New Year!Ann

Farewells

How do you say good-bye to someone at Christmas time? How do you say good-bye? How do you find the words to tell someone just how much they mean to you, and how much better your life is because for a short time they were a part of it? Because of them, you have faith once again that one person can make a difference in the lives of others, and the world around them. That one person can mean so much to so many others. How much? When the designs for the bookmobile's outer decorations were being planned, they put a little frog on the side hidden among the giant letters, just for her. How much? They gave her her own desk in the reference workroom, and the reference department was a happier place everytime she came in to work.
So, thank you Betty, for everything you did you me, and for all of us. I will always remember you, and try to do the same for others. Ann

The truth comes out

Well, now that I've had my lovely new Internet account for a few days now. I told one of my colleagues that I was concerned that someone might have tried to call me and couldn't get through if I was online. They very generously informed me that no, there were no missed calls and that it was just that nobody calls. Sigh.
I've given myself permission to spend as much time as I feel like it online (except when I have to get ready for work or actually go to work) until Christmas, but after the holiday I have to get back to work. Set a writing schedule, and include my blog in that time, and try and get more readers.
I'm now going to try the switch to the Beta, so wish me luck.

In Memorium

It's been a while since I've put anything up on my blog, and although my five regular readers already know why, I thought I'd post the reason. Last Wednesday, one of my coworkers lost her life in a terrible, tragic car accident. Where I work is a very small, non-departmentalized library, so that when this happened we were all profoundly affected by this. Now that the funeral has passed, we are just trying to get used to her absence and go on with our lives. Even now it is hard to write about it. And the holidays are not making it easier, but I am going home for the holidays, and hopefully that will help. Life feels gray right now, despite the holiday decorations. So if you are with people you love and who care about, do me a favor and let them know. It's too late when their gone, and their leaving is always too soon.
