Manic Monday!

I won a goody bag from Paperback Writer, a wonderful collection of books for writers: the Writer's Book of Matches, Alison Kent's CI Guide to Writing Erotic Romance and Rosina Lippi's Tied to the Tracks, a copy of Writer's Journal Magazine and a few more surprises (oh boy, now I have to wait and see what the surprises are). If you haven't checked out her website, go take a look, her entries are always a hoot (and on the rare occassion when they're not-they certainly give you something to think about).

Loose Screws?

Well, it turns out I did have a few screws loose in my noggin, but thankfully the doctor tightened them up for me yesterday, no more rattling noises when I shake my head. Seriously, though, I only wish having the doctor work on it didn't make it hurt now (not major-like a broken bone hurt, more like you've bitten your cheek and now keep rubbing the dumb thing against a tooth). I have also been reassured (by both the doctor and his assistant) that I will not set off the airports metal detectors (hip replacements and metal plates will-dental implants, not so much). Now I just have to figure out what you're not supposed to take and what you can take in a carry on bag.

I would also like to point out that my hit counter has topped 100 (Yeah team) and I would like to thank all four of you for reading my blog, now if I could get you to comment (even if its only to say Hi). That's my next goal, and I have a plan (evil laugh and much wringing of hands).

Short Attention Span Blog

I’ve been meaning to update my blog for the past couple of days, but I’ve been so busy that I haven’t been able to pay attention long enough to come up with a topic, let alone try to sit down and write about it. Between trying to fill staffing vacancies at work and preparing for my vacation and trying to work on two different writing projects and continuing the massive cleaning/organizing project at home that I started this spring, I’ve been just a tad busy lately.

I haven’t even had the time to write up a Tuesday’s Top Ten. I had a Top Ten at the start of the summer of authors I was going to read this summer. Quel surprise, I didn’t get to all of them, but here is a short list of authors I did read this summer for the first time. All of them are books that I would recommend to others without hesitation. The world building and the characters make the stories that they tell come alive, whatever the genre or the setting.

Savannah Russe- Beyond the Pale and Past Redemption
Mindy Klasky- Glasswright’s Apprentice
Susan Krinard- Touch of the Wolf, Once a Wolf, Secret of the Wolf
Sarah Monette- Melusine
Michelle Sagara- Cast in Shadow
David Skibbins- Eight of Swords

Thanks Ernie!

If anyone's interested, Ernesto is here. He's been here all night, he's expected to be here into midnight. Flooding is becoming a problem (especially my route to work-thank you very much), and there are about 92,000 people without power (including my apartment), but the 10 day forcast went from rain, rain, and more rain to partly cloudy (what they don't tell you is that the reason it changed is we got all 10 days worth of rain LAST NIGHT! Sigh). Hopefully the power will be back on when I get back home, otherwise I'll have to watch the geese swimming across the lawn.
